DermoNeuroModulating, or -tion, is a structured, interactive approach to manual therapy that considers the nervous system of the patient from skin cell to sense of self. Techniques are slow, light, kind, intelligent, responsive and effective. Positioning of limbs and trunk affects deeper nerve trunks (by shortening and widening their container), and is combined with skin stretch directed toward cutaneous fields of nerves that branch outward into skin (which may draw neural structure further through its container).
It is prudent to remember that manual handling of a patient’s physicality is only a small part of developing a complete therapeutic context for change – while optional, it can also be optimal.
Course description
We know how it sometimes takes some time for the work to sink in and to fully implement into one’s practice after attending their first DNM course. While it’s one thing to wrap your head around the concepts it’s quite another to break out of old habits. We get that. So rather than offering you another course where you might bust out a technique here or there, we want to do something different, something that has real potential of creating change for you and your clients. We want to give you the best opportunity to update the way you practice and to do so with confidence. Therefore, we will be teaching a two-part series course, back to back. The first leg of the 2xDNM tour will be May of 2020 with the second leg in September, four months later. Both are 3-day courses.
DermoNeuroModulation Level 1
15 – 17 May 2020 Ireland
Will be taught by Mike Reoch. Mike will deliver a strong foundation of the entire model, and an appropriate introduction to the handholds. This course is what you would expect out of any first-time class. Mike will also touch on the cranial nerves on the final day of the 3-day course, which is not something that is usually done.

Michael Reoch is a Registered Massage Therapist from Vancouver, British Columbia. He graduated in 2007 from the 3000 hour massage therapy program at WCCMT. Michael was the chair of a special interest group called PPGPain which is for RMTs who have a special interest in treating persistent pain. He has helped develop Pain education programs for RMTs in BC through the RMTBC and PainBC. Also, Michael taught advanced clinical and academic classes at WCCMT. He has been a board member of the RMTBC for five years helping to advance the massage therapy profession through science based education. Mike currently runs a private practice in British Columbia and teaches DNM classes regularly worldwide.

DermoNeuroModulation Level 2
2 – 4 Oct 2020 Ireland
Will be taught by Rey Allen. Rey will review the course material from DNM Level 1 with class discussion on what you each learned over the four months putting these concepts into practice. New material will include clinical reasoning, critical thinking, with an emphasis on quality of touch as well as finding creative ways through visual guides and the use of metaphors to elicit descending modulation and amplify treatment outcomes. DNM Level 2 will serve as the mentorship phase of this series, yet is also designed as a stand-alone course (where new students are welcome). The goal of DNM Level 2 is to get clear and confident.

Rey Allen started his career in 1995, first as a massage therapist and later becoming a Certified Rolfer, graduating from the European Rolfing Association in 2002. By 2009, he completed his training to become a Certified Advanced Rolfer and by 2013 he met Diane Jacobs and became a DNM practitioner. Rey then shifted his studies towards neuroscience with an interest in suggestibility and perception as it pertains to manual therapy which resulted in him becoming twice certified in Hypnotherapy. Rey is also the founder of several Facebook forums in which pain and manual therapy are the central focus. Rey is currently working towards his degree in psychology.
